Scott Kording

Scott Kording is an attorney licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.  His current law practice interests include trial and appellate work in state and federal courts.

He graduated magna cum laude with his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois.  In law school, Mr. Kording was a Harno Scholar and recipient of Rickert Awards for Excellence recognizing his legal publication, oral advocacy, and trial advocacy work.  He captained his law school's National Moot Court and Mock Trial teams, and he received a wide variety of honors and awards for his moot court, clinical, and legal writing projects.  He was a member of his law review's Board of Editors.  His scholarly work has been published in the University of Illinois Law Review.

His strong ties to the Bloomington-Normal community stem from his time as a student at Illinois State University, where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management and Political Science.  As an undergraduate student, he received the Robert G. Bone Scholar, Presidential Scholar, and Illinois Student Laureate designations.  Mr. Kording's interest in developing his oral advocacy and trial skills developed during his service as the University's President of the Student Body and as the two-year All-American Attorney captain of its Mock Trial Team.  After graduating from Illinois State University, Mr. Kording worked as a law clerk and summer associate for local and Chicago-area law firms while pursuing his legal studies.

In addition to his law practice, Mr. Kording serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Illinois College of Law.  In that capacity, he teaches trial advocacy skills, helps coach the University of Illinois Trial Team, and supports instruction in various components of the law school's experiential learning curriculum, including the Legal Negotiations course.  He also works at Illinois State University as an Adjunct Professor of Politics and Government and a coach of the Mock Trial Team.

Born in Jacksonville, Illinois, Mr. Kording is a lifelong native of Central Illinois.  He lives in Bloomington with his wife Melanie, who is an eighth grade math and language arts teacher at the Dee-Mack Junior High School in Mackinaw, Illinois.  His personal interests include playing basketball, reading, watching movies, and playing with his dog Gracie.
