William D. Campbell

Bill Campbell is a trial attorney with a distinguished practice of more than 22 years in Illinois state court.  As a member of the McLean County Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association, Mr. Campbell's current law practice is focused on criminal and traffic defense, real estate, wills and probate, and creditor's rights.

He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he also completed graduate coursework with emphasis on labor relations.  In 1976, Mr. Campbell earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Illinois College of Law.  He was admitted to the Illinois Bar the same year.

From 1983 to May 2005, Mr. Campbell served as the Director of Students' Legal Services at Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois.  In that capacity, he handled criminal, DUI, traffic, and landlord-tenant matters for several thousand students.  His decades of dedicated service to Illinois State University students contributed to his receipt of the Neal R. Gamsky Award, the highest recognition afforded to student affairs professionals. 

Before beginning his work at Illinois State University, he served as a partner of a law firm in Decatur, Illinois, where he focused his practice on transactional and probate matters.  In addition to his extensive experience as a legal practitioner, Mr. Campbell has worked as a law clerk for the Illinois Appellate Court in its Fourth District office in Springfield, Illinois. 

Mr. Campbell is a frequent guest lecturer at Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University.  His public service also includes a six-year tenure in the Illinois Army National Guard.

Mr. Campbell was born in Decatur, Illinois.  He lives in Bloomington with his wife, Robin Leavitt, who is the Chair of the Department of Education at Illinois Wesleyan University.  Mr. Campbell's personal interests include Russian history, antique automobiles, and spending time at home with his three dogs.
